Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is simple: We invest in good, well-managed companies that are leaders in their field. We give them the resources they need, and allow them the freedom to grow and to thrive.

Founded in 1969, Fulham & Co. invests in businesses in cooperation with company management. Since 1984, we have invested in more than 30 companies, many of which are manufacturers of branded products sold into commercial and industrial markets. We also invest in businesses that serve certain consumer markets.

We prefer to work with businesses owned by entrepreneurs. In many cases, we invest when founders wish to reduce their investment or when they need additional capital for growth. We welcome opportunities to support founders who want to continue managing the company following our investment.

In other cases, the owner wants to withdraw from operations as well as to liquidate the value of his or her investment. In those circumstances, we work closely with existing management to assure a smooth transition.

Candidate companies must have sales of $10 to $50 milion, with sales primarily to commercial and industrial customers, and a leading position in a niche market. We rely on a strong management team to run the company on a day-to-day basis.

Good Partners

At the core of Fulham & Co. are the Operating Partners, who all have 15 to 20 years of experience as managers. The Operating Partners' technical backgrounds are in engineering, yet they have developed particular strengths in sales, marketing, product development, procurement, and operations. Our objective is to match the skills and temperament of the Operating Partners with each investment so that management can draw on us as they consider how to set their objectives.
